Every college campus has a career center with free or cost effective resources. The vast majority of students never utilize this which is a huge mistake because it’s setup for YOU! Make sure you visit the career center, learn about what they have to offer, and absorb the total value your campus is attempting to provide you. After graduate school, I wanted to leverage every ounce of potential support to help me find a job, and my career center experience was very good. I attended weekly meetings and build a relationship with the director of the center, no different than with my professors. Afterwards, the director of the center was campaigning for me and probing the market, I met other students and learned about their job search experiences, and absolutely loved the resource booklet they offered. This booklet was filled with great information on resume building, networking strategy, and other professional development and career advice. Visit your career center for sure, and make sure you sign up for events they host.
